[House, Trance, Progressive] The Blue Room Sessions

The Blue Room Sessions came about from a want for a sad mix. I wanted something with emotion and feeling, but not chill. I wanted to blend the loves that really define my style, epic house and trance (the big give away was that my sets are normally melodramatic and filled melody). I toyed with this idea for some time with nothing coming to fruition... I let it sit on the back burner as other sets were built. I simply had too many good trance and house tracks to pull from... There are masterpieces and to do justice to both genres in a single swoop is near impossible without leaving something out.

Time passed and then I got into a mixing fury. Every day I would sit at my computer and listen through tracks, pulling songs to mix and play... wheedling pieces into opuses of grandeur (I like colorful characterizations, what can I say) while my favorite genres never met properly. Finally this mix just came to me, organically and simply. It's not the robust final product of my ambition, however it is the first of many pairings of house and trance. This mix is leans more on the house side, but it's perfect for a rainy night. Enjoy!

[Pop/Circuit] Able To Love

Here is another mix for you all to chew on, it's a yummy good time. I mix in some classic (I hate the word old when a song is still good and playable) anthems before finishing with some pop hits. I worked hard to squeeze 14 tracks in under an hour and twenty minutes so you can even burn off a CD version of this mix to give a friend. Of special note is my current obsession, "Bust Your Windows", by Jazmine Sullivan.

[Techno/Electro/Progressive] The Rock Show

The Rock Show is very much about the idea of rock music. It's a feeling as much as it is a sound. I played with the idea of what rock is very much with this mix. I went everywhere from the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame member, Madonna all the way to real rockers like R.E.M. and pop rockers like Maroon 5. I hope you enjoy the mix. I crammed 14 tracks together in under an hour and 20 minutes. Go figure! Oh, and an odd note about the cover image... the picture is of a member of The Bravery during a concert I attended last year. None of their tracks actually appear in this mix! It's still a cool photo, and I took it so whatever!

This isn't your typical Sunday morning gospel. This is a mix full of love and joy. It's not beating you over a head with religion, but the connotation is there. [House/Disco Mix] Daytime Disco

Here is my new mix, it's actually CD length! It's called Daytime Disco, and was of course mixed in the daylight hours. It actually got it's name for the daytime disco feeling I was going for. Don't expect this mix to be a sleeper. It actually storms through it's 12 tracks and bouncy to a big finish with some emotive story elements tossed in, since this IS one of my mixes after all!

Here is the new mix for the week, it has a strong techno influence and then deepens out at the end with a little house and even a trance track. I actually used a mash-up I did near the end of the mix. I combined Lullaby Of Clubland and an instrumental track called Brasil. New Music Thursdays

I have decided I am going to make Thursdays my new music post day. It works out well, because my column is due on Wednesdays and new music is released on Monday (internationally) and Tuesday (domestically). I want to get new mixes out by the weekend, so Thursday is perfect (and sort of the winner by default).
